Military History Research Centre (Aust.)

The Team

The Military History Centre (Aust.) was founded in December 2005 and is committed to delivering historical information for the period 1794-1975. With the registered office in Canberra, we aspire to delivery personal military profiles world-wide, in a manner not previously available.

The MHRC team consists of a small group of Historians, Researchers and Conservators, all dedicated to the support of the website databases through narrating personal and unit histories of the millions of military personnel and thousands of units that represent one hundred and eighty years of international conflict.

The task is immense and we seek voluntary assistance, particularly from those who reside in countries that have been subject to armed conflict. The period we study is the: Napoleonic (1794-1815), American War of Independence (1777-83), U.S. Civil War (1861-65), Crimean War (1853-56), Franco-Prussian War (1878-71), British-Zulu Campaign (1879), Anglo-Boer War (1881), Boxer Rebellion (1900-01), Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902), The Great War (1914-19), World War II (1939-45), Korean War (1950-53), Malayan Emergency (1956-57) and Vietnam War (1946-75). If you possess a background in military history (Army, Navy, Air Force, Medical and Nursing) and a desire to assist, please contact the Research Management Section on research@mistory.org for a description of our needs. The positions are voluntary and can be carried out at the volunteer's convenience, wherever you live (in the world). Talk to you soon.

The Mission

To acquire artefacts of historic significence to the military services (Army Navy, Air Force and Medical) that participated in the military campaigns during the period defined above.

To Provide a publicly accessible research reference library and galleries to assist in the advancement of research and recording the people and events relating to the abovementioned period.
